Darkest before dawn

Thanks to the international break, we’ve been able dwell on Arsenal’s defeat at Anfield for almost two weeks. We dominated for long stretches but were undone by the Gunners’ lack of imagination and a singular moment of brilliance.

Szoboszlai’s free kick winner was reminiscent of the two Declan Rice put past Real Madrid last season. Nothing to do, but begrudgingly admire it.

Arsenal restart the season Saturday against Nottingham. A midday London kick off means we’ll be getting up before dawn. Interesting to see, if this week’s Nuno Espírito Santo sacking and the announcement of his replacement, Ange Postecoglou, will impact Nottingham’s performance. I’m just happy we get to use the sung to the tune of “Sleepy Jean” chant again.

Hope we’ll see you at the pub! Come cement your legend status. Don’t forget to be extra quiet entering/exiting the pub in early morning darkness.

COYG!

Best, Mark
