Another long week for Arsenal supporters. The Gunners capitulated against Bournemouth on Saturday and then ground out a 0-0 draw against Sporting on Wednesday. While the former reduced their points lead in the Premiership, the latter secured their place in a Champions League semifinal.
Neither did much to calm nerves or boost confidence going into a likely title-deciding match against Man City this weekend. We’ll need a more inspired performance if Arsenal are going to get their hands on that trophy.
There’s so much outside noise right now, with the media and opposition fans banging on about Arsenal’s lack of style and other deficiencies. But the worst of it has come from alleged Arsenal fans heaping doubt and abuse on our players and manager.
Particularly noxious is the dissent for clicks approach, pioneered by AFTV. Sure, there are legitimate things to moan about, but if we don’t back the lads unequivocally now, can we call ourselves Arsenal supporters?
For matches like this, some supporters want to bring a friend or family member who supports City. We already contend with an existing City group at Maggie’s, so we’d rather you didn’t. We certainly don’t want them in the Arsenal half of the bar, so don’t be surprised if you’re asked to move.
Regardless, we endeavor to keep the banter civil at all times and will not tolerate any actual fights. See you at the pub!
COYG!
Best, Mark
