Gooners,
The reigning Premier League champions begin the 2026-2027 season, Friday, August 21st against newly promoted Coventry. But first, the small matter of the Community Shield against Man City this Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 7:00 am.
At the time of this post, Arsenal have been marginally busy in the transfer window. Christian Norgaard, Jakub Kiwior and Leandro Trossard all departed, the last of these being the hardest goodbye.
Piero Hincapié’s loan from Bayern Leverkusen was made permanent and goalie Illan Meslier joined on a free from Leeds. But the significant signings so far, are midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle and winger/forward Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.
A high profile dalliance with Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr. never amounted to anything. Rumors abound about Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and Juventus’ Turkey winger, Kenan Yildiz so perhaps Arsenal are not done yet.
In preparation for the new season, we have a new line of Bay Area Gooners Champions Swag, including scarves, t-shirts, and hoodies. Unfortunately, they may not be ready in time for this Sunday’s match, but we’re expecting them for the Coventry match.
Lastly, I get a lot of inquiries during the season about Arsenal tickets. My first recommendation is always to join Arsenal America and enter their ticket lotteries for home matches. Please remember to select Bay Area Gooners as your official branch when joining.
Beyond possible ticket access, there are numerous benefits and they have different, affordable membership tiers. Joining Arsenal America is also a great way to support our group.
Excited to see everyone this weekend.
Best, Mark
