Fun times this past Sunday at Maggie’s, as Arsenal showed no rust and dispatched City handily to win the Community Shield. One of our members, Jordan Maralit, wrote about his experience here.
As trophies go, no one rates the shield that highly, but the victory allowed us to take possession of the framed dollar bill from the local Man City group. Named for our late Gooner bartender, Patrick Dunphy, this is a now a long-held tradition at Maggie’s.
The 2026-2027 Premier League Season begins tomorrow, Arsenal’s first as defending Champions in 20 some odd years. We’re at home against newly promoted Coventry City FC.
For most of us at the pub, this will a completely different vibe. Winning the title has raised expectations significantly. Arsenal as “title favourites” is splashed all over the UK press.
My expectations are the same as any other season. During a recent interview with GoonerViews, I confessed that at the beginning of every campaign, I start with the optimism, we’re going to win all 4 trophies.
Our new line of Bay Area Gooners Champions Swag is finally here! We’ll have scarves, t-shirts, and hoodies for sale on Friday and during most weekend matches.
