Midweek Champions League match against Olympiakos, done and dusted. A bit labored at times, but the Greek side are no slouches and Arsenal eventually wore them down. Full highlights here. Last weekend’s dramatic late win against Newcastle was a joy to behold. I must have watched Big Gabi’s stoppage time goal, a dozen times orContinue reading “Bursting bubbles”

Sunday at Newcastle
Gooners could be forgiven for running through all the feelings this week, where Arsenal are concerned. Elation over Martinelli’s late equalizer against City, frustration over not getting the win, sadness over Noni Madueke’s injury, and joy again over Eze’s first goal and a midweek League Cup win. This Sunday, it’s Newcastle away, and in recentContinue reading “Sunday at Newcastle”
League Cup tomorrow!
Arsenal have an away third round League Cup match tomorrow against Port Vale FC. They’re an EFL League 1 team located in Stoke. Never our favorite place to play. Kick off is 12:00 pm and and Maggie’s will have the match on for us! I won’t make it to the pub tomorrow but hope toContinue reading “League Cup tomorrow!”
Maggie McGarry’s Derby
Arsenal opened their Champions League campaign Tuesday with a 2-0 win against Athletic Club. A much maligned Gabriel Martinelli scored within a minute of coming on as a second half substitute. He did so with an assist from another forgotten man, Leandro Trossard. In the dying moments of the match, Gabi would return the favorContinue reading “Maggie McGarry’s Derby”
Champions League Tuesday!

Darkest before dawn
Thanks to the international break, we’ve been able dwell on Arsenal’s defeat at Anfield for almost two weeks. We dominated for long stretches but were undone by the Gunners’ lack of imagination and a singular moment of brilliance. Szoboszlai’s free kick winner was reminiscent of the two Declan Rice put past Real Madrid last season.Continue reading “Darkest before dawn”
What a difference
What a difference a week makes. After a labored victory at Old Trafford, Arsenal bounced back to batter Leeds United, 5-0 at home. Saturday was a match of firsts, including Viktor Gyökeres first goal in the red and white. We also witnessed the Premier League debut of wunderkind, Max Dowman, who became the second-youngest playerContinue reading “What a difference”
Arsenal, take 2
We don’t even get a week to enjoy the gritty win against United. Far from pretty, the Gunners got a 1-nil victory at Old Trafford. But any joy from the result was quickly tempered by news that Kai Havertz is now injured. No word yet on how long he’ll be out, but Arsenal secured theContinue reading “Arsenal, take 2”
Season Opener Sunday
Here we go again. Sunday marks the start of the 2025/2026 Premier League season for Arsenal, who head to Old Crapford to take on Man United. Is it our time? The club made multiple signings in the off season, adding Kepa, Zubimendi, Norgaard, Madueke, Mosquera, and Gyokeres to the roster. Attempts to buy Crystal Palace’sContinue reading “Season Opener Sunday”
Ooh to be a Gooner: Michelle
The latest in a series of posts, profiling members of our Bay Area Gooners family. Originally from Fair Oaks, Michelle Wright has been in San Francisco a little over 2 years, and came to Arsenal through a rather circuitous route. She fell in love with a British comedian, Alan Davies, through QI (Quite Interesting), aContinue reading “Ooh to be a Gooner: Michelle”
